Leku Ona Hotel
Project description
The Leku Ona Hotel, a historic landmark on Boise’s Basque Block, has long stood as a symbol of the city’s Basque heritage, originally serving as a boarding house and community gathering place. This historic restoration project involved the full teardown and meticulous reconstruction of the hotel’s 100-year-old porch, restoring it to its original character while meeting modern engineering standards and current building codes.
Working closely with the City of Boise and local historical organizations, every detail was carefully considered to preserve the architectural integrity of the original structure. Original elements were restored wherever possible, while new components were custom-crafted to match the historic design and period-correct details of the building.
The finished result preserves the historic character of the Leku Ona Hotel while honoring the cultural significance and enduring legacy of Boise’s Basque community.
